Meet Darwin

Darwin Black, of Newark, New Jersey started his dancing at the age of 16. He graduated from Newark Arts High School under the direction of Ronnie D. Carney and Kim Richardson. Mr. Black furthered his training under Nancy Turano with the New Jersey Dance Theater Ensemble. After a year of training at Alvin Ailey as a Fellowship Student, he began his professional career with the Miami Contemporary Dance Company, performing repertory by Ray Sullivan. Darwin later joined the Sacramento Ballet, dancing numerous ballets, including those of George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp and Trey McIntyre. After two years with Sacramento Ballet, he joined Pascal Rioult Dance Theater. Currently, Mr. Black is enjoying being a freelance artist and is looking forward to dancing with Alaska Dance Theater.
