alice bassler sullivan theatre

The Alice Bassler Sullivan Theatre is a black box theatre made when the wall between GCI and JL Properties is removed. GCI is the seating area; JL Properties is the stage. There are seats for approximately 110 with floor seating for another 15-20 people. The stage  opening is 33’ wide with a depth of 43’. There is a black velour drops that cover the barres and mirrors. There is a basic light system dead hung on a grid and a sound system that can be linked between the two studios.

The space was designed to give Anchorage audiences a place to see more dance of the type not normally brought to town -  contemporary, up and coming ideas and artists whose work is best seen in small, intimate spaces. You won’t see Pacific Northwest Ballet but you might see Julie Tobiason’s (former PNB dancer) new Seattle Project dance company. You will also see local dance groups in performance with Alaska Dance Theatre. Groups like Ritmovida Dance Partnership, Underground Dance Company and North Star Ballet from Fairbanks.

Depending upon availability and compatibility the space may be rented for various activities. Please use the facilities use request form to inquire about availability.
