Update to ADT's COVID-19 Policy

ADT Covid Safety Policy

Updated 3-26-22

Following federal, state, and municipal guidance, ADT has updated our health and operational procedures that will mitigate risk and ensure the safety of our students, staff, teachers, families, and dancers:

Quarantine and Isolation Update

ADT will follow the guidelines recommended by the CDC with regards to when and how long to quarantine and isolate with regards to COVID-19.

Quarantine Procedures

ADT defines exposure as having close contact- within 6 feet for a total of 15

minutes or more. Classes will be considered to be close contact should a student

who tests positive for COVID-19 have attended classes up to 2 days from the date

they took their positive test.

For dancers who were exposed to COVID-19 and are fully vaccinated:

● Dancers do not need to quarantine unless experiencing symptoms.

Please continue to monitor symptoms and it is recommended to get

tested at least 5 days after you had close contact with someone with

COVID-19.

● Boosters are currently not required to be fully vaccinated.

For dancers who were exposed to COVID-19 and are not fully vaccinated, we

recommend following the procedures below:

● Stay home and quarantine for at least 5 full days.

● Dancers may return to class on day 6 and should watch for symptoms

until 10 days after you last had close contact.

● If symptoms should develop, isolate immediately and get tested.

Continue to stay home until you receive the test results back.

For dancers who were exposed to COVID-19 and had confirmed COVID-19

within the past 90 days:

● Dancers do not need to quarantine unless experiencing symptoms.

Please continue to monitor symptoms and it is recommended to get

tested at least 5 days after you had close contact with someone with

COVID-19.

Isolation- Dancers who test Positive

● Stay home for at least 5 days and isolate yourself from others in your home.

If Self Isolating due to Symptoms- End isolation after 5 full days if you are fever

free for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing medication) and your

symptoms are improving.

If Isolating due to a positive test result- End isolation after at least 5 full days

after your positive test.

If you were severely ill with COVID-19- Isolate for at least 10 days and consult your

doctor before ending isolation.

Limited Class Capacity. Classes have returned back to full capacity. Instructors

will work to keep students socially distanced in the classrooms.

Virtual Meetings. Until further notice, all orientations, observations, and parent

meetings will be held virtually.

Pre-Screen Symptoms. We ask that all families pre-screen before entering ADT’s

facilities. Families should check for signs of a fever or illness. Do not send students

to class if they demonstrate any symptoms associated with an active illness, as

they will be prevented from participating (e.g., fever, infection, sore throat,

headache, stomach pain, lethargy, nausea, and cough).

Masks Optional

Masks are recommended for everyone entering ADT facilities. Students are recommended to wear mask coverings during class. Face coverings should not be placed on children under the age of 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or who is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. ADT will provide free-of-charge masks for anyone who needs one.

Hand Washing & Hygiene

All studios are equipped with hand sanitizer for student and staff use. Instructors will ensure that ballet barres are wiped down at the end of use/class. Please sanitize hands upon entering the facility.

Drinks & Snacks

All students are expected to bring a water bottle to class for hydration. ADT’s water fountains are currently unavailable.

Common Areas

We ask that all families please limit the use of our lobby during this time. ADT’s front desk is open for registration, payment, and general questions. Observation from the lobby is strongly discouraged for parents of students ages 6 and older. For students in our Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet classes, we ask that dancers have 1 parent/guardian present in the lobby to assist with trips to the bathroom and any other needs during these classes.

Reporting Notifications

Any student or faculty member exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will be immediately quarantined and sent home for a period of time that complies with ADT guidelines for quarantine and isolation.

Enhanced Studio Cleaning Procedures

All studios will be frequently disinfected including door handles, railings, bathrooms, barres, and floors. Throughout the day, the class schedule will include the time between lessons for the studios to be disinfected.

Zoom & In-person Classes

ADT will follow the municipal emergency orders applicable to the closure requirements and capacity limits for gyms and dance schools, in order to determine whether to offer in-person classes or switch to online Zoom classes. In the event that a class is in quarantine, Zoom will become available to use for students who do not have access to the building. We know from past experience that the Municipality of Anchorage can issue emergency orders at any time and with little warning. This is because the city is dealing with an unprecedented pandemic. We ask that students and families remain flexible and prepared for abrupt changes to schedule and class delivery.

For more information on quarantine and isolation, please consult the CDC’s website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus

Guidelines and the status of any program may change contingent upon environmental factors and subsequent governmental directives that increase or decrease requirements. The guidelines will be strictly enforced without exception. If instructors, staff, visitors, parents, guardians, or students do not comply with the health guidelines, it will be grounds for dismissal from the program without a refund. If you have additional questions, send an email to ADT at info@alaskadancetheatre.org or call us at (907) 277-9591.
