Melissa Jabaay has been with Alaska Dance Theatre for 12+ years, always offering her assistance and kindness at every turn. In addition to being a great teacher, Ms. Jabaay is also a beautiful choreographer, a wonderful stage manager, and creative lighting designer! If you are viewing one of ADT's performances, whether recorded or live, chances are that some or many aspects of it were made possible/enhanced by the artistic touch of Ms. Jabaay.
When not teaching Jazz, Broadway, Contemporary, Tap, or Acro, you can find Melissa in the Black Box theatre, setting up for a show, or backstage as ADT's stage manager. You might also find her upside down on her hands as nobody can beat her handstand pirouettes! Students love her positive and boundless energy in class, and she is always pushing our dancers to be their best!
This year’s the Nutcracker experience would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work set forth by Melissa. From setting up the green screen and lighting to editing the videos with final touches, she has been here every step of the way.
Also, this year more than ever, Melissa supported the entire school - both students and staff - with her positivity, making ADT such a wonderful place for everyone. Like so many of our extraordinary staff, Melissa represents one of the bigger parts of ADT's soul.
We consider ourselves the Luckiest Dance School in Anchorage to have such a caring, wonderful instructor!
